Picture Frame Lace Art

Hello Everyone,

This is the first post from Ideas into Art. This first art project is a simple one, but don't let the simplicity of it fool you into thinking is a low end piece of art. As you will see, your finished product is amazing and beautiful. Even men think it is nice. =) I'll be adding my photo this week of this project. This is a new blog so i'm still getting things up and running. Please subscribe by email here

Supplies needed:
Colored Poster board Paper (your choice of color)
Lace Fabric - Check your local fabric store (Shown below or similar fabric of your choice)
free image hosting

Picture frame(s) similar to the ones below.

Tools needed:
Scissors

Now here's why this is a nice cheap priced project. Say you spend $30.00 for the frames above, about $8.00 for a yard of fabric, and about $5.00 for some quality posterboard paper, that's $43.00 total!

Divide $43.00 by the ten frames you just purchased and you come out with $4.30 per item. Not bad for a nice little art project in my opinion.

Steps:

  1. Remove the backing of the frame and the glass slate inside.
  2. Use the glass as a guide and cut the paper and lace fabric to the same size as the glass (maybe just a tad over).
  3. After you have finished cutting the paper and lace fabric place the glass back in the picture frame.
  4. Place your cut lace over the glass and set your colored paper over the lace.
  5. Secure the frame with the back.
Viola! You have a nice piece of art to display on a wall and maybe sell a few to some friends!

Tip!
search your local art store for different types of paper. It's best to use a minimum of 80lb cover. You can also try different colors and types of glossy and matte paper for different looks and feel.
